About Us

Sail Sand Point is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit community sailing center started in 1998 by passionate sailors and their families in order to create sailing opportunities and small boat programs for youth and adults in the greater Seattle area.

Our purpose is to remove traditional barriers to water access for everyone, regardless of age, background, or ability, with a special focus on youth. We focus on the development of a lifelong passion for sailing, the water, and the character qualities of self-confidence, leadership, and environmental stewardship.

Today, Sail Sand Point offers youth summer camps in multiple locations, year round youth racing and clinics, adult classes, volunteer opportunities for all ages, private lessons, open boating, community outreach, boat storage, environmental education, adaptive sailing opportunities, and a variety of partnership programs with other nonprofit and community based organizations. We also offer half and full scholarships, so that we never have to turn anyone away from participating in our programs due to financial limitations. In 2014, over 6,300 members of the community participated in one of the programs at Sail Sand Point!
