American Academy Of Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS Foundation)

In 1974, the Educational and Research Foundation for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS Foundation) was created to foster, promote, support, augment, develop, and encourage investigative knowledge and charitable and humanitarian application of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Our humanitarian program, FACE TO FACE, is two-fold.Internationally, FACE TO FACE provides humanitarian assistance primarily to children suffering from facial deformities caused by birth or by trauma. Unlike some programs FACE TO FACE makes the education of facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons all over the world an integral part of its program. FACE TO FACE surgeons believe that a more lasting impact is made in communities when visiting and local surgeons and nurses work together in integrated teams to manage cases.

Here at home AAFPRS became the first surgical group to step forward and help victims of domestic violence. Many such victims who receive facial injuries are not financially able to have these injuries adequately repaired. AAFPRS offers free consultation and surgery to victims of this violence through FACE TO FACE: The National Domestic Violence Project, thereby enhancing their self esteem and aiding them in rebuilding their lives.
