International Medical Aid
Mission
International Medical Aid places high school, pre-health and health profession students in supervised hospital internships in Mombasa, Kenya and Cusco, Peru, so they can see how medicine works and build the clinical experience their future careers require.
About Us
International Medical Aid (IMA) was founded by Roger Voter and Homayon Ghassemi during their final year at Johns Hopkins University. Based in Washington, DC, IMA runs supervised clinical programs at Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital in Mombasa, Kenya and Hospital Nacional Adolfo Guevara Velasco in Cusco, Peru. Interns work beside local doctors, nurses and clinicians, attend a global health lecture series, practice in clinical simulations and join community clinics and school health visits.
Programs run from two to twelve weeks, and most interns stay four to six. Every program includes a shared room in a gated residence with 24/7 security, three meals a day, airport transfers, daily transport to the hospital and staff on call around the clock.
