About Us

The mission of Tahoma Audubon is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity. We are, both historically and at heart, a member-driven and volunteer run grassroots organization that works to connect people with nature. Our members, volunteers, staff, and partners work together to make a positive difference in the lives of people and wildlife in Pierce County, protecting habitats for future generations. From the original 150 members in 1969, we have grown to a total of 1,500 members spread across Pierce County. The organization’s nine committees accomplish much of work of the organization: publish a monthly newsletter; run education programs, lead field trips and monthly membership forums; participate in Birdathon, organize volunteers and keep the board and finances running smoothly.
