COLORS Inner-City Youth Art Studio

About Us

The COLORS art studio for inner-city youth, founded in 1993, is a program of the Spartanburg Art Museum. We provide the opportunity for at-risk youth ages 6-18 to experience high quality art instruction free of charge. Students can drop-in anytime Monday through Thursday from 3:00- 6:00pm at the art museum. We also travel to other locations: schools, churches, community centers, Spartanburg Housing Authority developments.

Instruction is provided in watercolor and acrylic paint, colored and graphite pencil, charcoal, pastels and clay. We use professional grade materials and there are professional artists on staff as instructors.

Students are exposed to professional exhibitions held in the museum and galleries off-site. COLORS students also take field trips, paint murals in the communtiy and exhibit their artwork publicly.
