EcoLogic Development Fund

Founded in 1993, the EcoLogic Development Fund is dedicated to reducing destruction of significant tropical ecosystems by advancing economic development and self-determination among local communities in threatened habitats. These goals are accomplished through direct financial and technical support to Latin American organizations that promote community-based development and resource management in areas where indigenous people depend on the health of endangered habitats. With modest financial resources, we have collaborated with more than 12 partner organizations in nine Latin American countries to benefit over 500,000 poor and indigenous people. More specifically, together with our partners EcoLogic has:

-Helped ensure the sound stewardship of over one million acres of biologically rich tropical forests.

-Trained 15,000 farmers in sustainable agriculture.

-Strengthened 200 community groups to protect their threatened natural resources.

-Helped over 8000 people - none of whom had ever earned more than $800 a year - gain new skills to raise their income.
