About Us

Public Interest Intellectual Property Advisors (PIIPA) is a global nonprofit, nonpartisan, nongovernmental organization who is a world leader and resource for developing countries and public interest organizations seeking pro bono expertise in intellectual property matters to promote health, agriculture, science, education, culture, biodiversity, and the environment.

Since 2003, PIIPA has coordinated pro bono IP services, training, symposia, and support for 130+ clients in over 35 developing countries. Our partners have included the WTO, WHO, WIPO, UNECA, World Bank, International Finance Corporation, Ford and Rockefeller Foundations, U.K. Dept. for International Development, Canadian International Development Agency, and The Fogarty International Center of the U.S. National Institutes of Health.

The IP Corps: PIIPA’s volunteer network of 3,500+ IP practitioners in 50 countries brings to each project an unparalleled scope of skills, experience, and knowledge that covers all aspects of IP. Professional quality standards are applied in all public interest matters handled through PIIPA.
