About Us

The Federation of American Scientists conducts analysis and advocacy on science, technology and public policy issues, including nuclear nonproliferation, biological and chemical weapons control, arms sales monitoring, educational technology research and limiting government secrecy. Founded in 1945 by the Manhattan Project scientists, FAS is the oldest organization dedicated to ending the worldwide arms race. It has played a key role in ensuring that the public debate over arms control and related issues are fully informed by clear, reliable, and unbiased information and analysis.
