About Us

The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) Escalera Program: Taking Steps to Success is a national after school model that promotes economic mobility for Latino youth by increasing educational attainment, career planning, and access to information about well-paying careers. NCLR – the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S. – was founded in 1968 and reaches millions of Hispanics each year in 41 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. NCLR improves opportunities for Hispanics in five key areas: assets/investments, civil rights and immigration, education, employment and economic status, and health.
