Operation CHAMPS: Child Heroes Attached to Military Personnel

MISSION: Operation Champs is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that engages civilian communities in giving back to military families. Operation Champs is devoted to supporting families at the local military installations and from the surrounding military communities through volunteerism; providing social services; and developing awareness and cultural understanding in order to bridge the gap between the military and civilian worlds.

VISION: Operation Champs will be the heart of a community where military families feel they are supported, understood, and appreciated by American civilians nationwide; and where civilians believe that it is their duty to give back and express their gratitude to military families in their communities. We will bridge the gap between the military and civilian worlds by playing a central role in the education and engagement of civilians in innovative ways to build a welcoming and thriving community that enriches military life for each generation.

KEY SERVICES: Operation Champs provides direct and indirect services to express our appreciation to Servicemembers and their families:

• Champsitting (babysitting): Operation Champs provides FREE babysitting services to military families. The Champsitting program takes special precautions to ensure the safety of all Champs. To this end, all Champsitters are interviewed and personally selected by the executive team, background checked, First Aid and CPR certified and trained in babysitting best practices, military 101 and military cultural competence. The Champsitting program allows Servicemembers and their spouses to take time to themselves while knowing their children are in the hands of screened and trained college students who are responsible, reliable, and fun!
  
  
• “The Little CHAMPS” Initiative: Operation Champs serves as the main distributor for “The Little CHAMPS” children’s book. “The Little CHAMPS” book celebrates the service of our Champs, discusses military-connected challenges that our Champs often face; and raises awareness among civilian children about military life, and the challenges faced by their military peers.
