About Us

For the past 45 years, Literacy Volunteers of Central Connecticut (LVCC) has served thousands of residents in the central Connecticut area.

LVCC’s vision is to live in “a world where everyone has the literacy skills to thrive.” It assists adults who lack literacy skills and are primarily from low-income households. On average, LVCC serves more than 300 students every year with the help of 100 dedicated volunteers.

Through our tutoring services – which are provided at zero cost – students acquire skills to gain or retain employment, get promotions, pass the GED test, pursue other educational advancement or certifications, and obtain citizenship.

LVCC empowers adult learners, providing the skills that lead to economic self-sufficiency and reducing generational poverty.
