About Us

The Bilingual Transition to Teaching Project is a federally funded program designed to provide training, resources, and support to mid-career professionals and recent college graduates who are willing to change careers and become bilingual teachers in school districts that meet federal requirements for high need. Participants receive free graduate school tuition to pursue a master’s degree in education as well as elementary teacher certification with bilingual and ESL approvals. The program is administered by the Illinois State Board of Education in partnership with the Illinois Resource Center, Northern Illinois University, the Chicago Public Schools, and other high need school districts in the State of Illinois.
