  • Mission

To help women raise their self-esteem and achieve economic independence through sustained employment.

    About Us

WEN offers job-search training and resources; individualized coaching; and professional case management services to unemployed and underemployed women living in the greater Kansas City area.

The Women’s Employment Network (WEN) was founded in 1986 by Beth K. Smith and the late Marjorie Powell Allen. These two community leaders had a vision of helping women transform their lives to become economically self-sufficient through sustained employment. WEN serves women in the bi-state Kansas City metropolitan area.

Our target population includes women that are age 18 - 62 with a high school diploma or the equivalent. These women may be unemployed, laid off, going through a career transition, returning to the workforce, or displaced homemakers. WEN works with these women to identify individual barriers to employment and to create a plan of action to overcome those barriers.
