The Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation was founded as a support, not for profit, 501-3C charity in 1995. The Foundation’s focus has been to help assist those programs that enhance the opportunity for children to become healthy, educated, emotionally stable, productive citizens by providing the best quality education and housing opportunities available. Some of the organizations that have been partner of the TAG Foundation include, the Jackie Robinson YMCA, etc. In 2001, the Gwynn Curriculum support center was opened in Poway, CA to provide affordable tutoring services to children who required extra attention. The Center also provided an opportunity for local high school students to be mentored in tutoring skills and allowed them to exercise that skill in gainful employment. The TAG Foundation was transitioned as a sub Foundation of the San Diego Foundation in order to better leverage lager funding opportunities.
