  • Mission

The OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates (previously known as the Organization of Chinese Americans) is a non-profit organization founded in 1973, whose stated mission is to advance the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans (APAs) in the United States. OCA has mostly volunteer-run Chapters across the country and a National Center in Washington, D.C. OCA-East Bay was founded in 1987 and has worked hard on equal rights, fair representation and civic leadership of Asian Pacific Americans in the East Bay, mainly in Oakland.

    About Us

OCA-East Bay (www.ocaeastbay.org) focused on civic leadership programs, most notably in Oakland Chinatown. In the recent past OCA-East Bay is known for its volunteer-run community cleanup in Oakland Chinatown called "PickITup Chinatown" which teaches volunteers about community ownership through collecting trash, reporting city property damage and clearing several square feet of graffiti. OCA-East Bay has activated hundreds of volunteers through the PickITup Chinatown program and the program is meant to be a launching pad for other political education work.
