Tecnologia Para la Salud

About Us

Tecnologia Para la Salud (TPS) was officially founded in 1993, but found its roots in the civil war that Guatemala undergone in the 1980s.

The aim of the organization is to promote a better living standard with regard to health issues, for the rural communities across Guatemala. So far, we have provided more than 40 communities with drains, latrines, solar-dryer, medicines, and other basic needs like shampoo, shower-gel, cream, etc. All our production is artisan.

We also supervise our programs with the aim to teach each community how to produce their own goods. Recently, our team visited one of our projects in Huehuetenango (Alti-plato). The purpose was to build, with the community, a well, the water pump, and latrines.

More recently, TPS has initiated the project to renovate part of our main building, in Aldea de San Miguel Morazan, Chimaltenango, into a laboratory facilities that school in Sacatepequez and Chimaltenango could use to teach chemistry in the same standard than in Europe or in the US. Ultimately, our site could be use to accomodate alumnis from abroad. There, they will have to opportunity to learn more about the Mayan heritage with regard to medicinal plants in our botanic garden, and also transmit their knowledge to the local population. All the benefit from this project will be use to keep our project sustainable.
