About Us

Founded in 2000, CCEJN's mission is to promote environmental justice and health equity in California’s San Joaquin Valley. Our vision is an end to environmental racism and the achievement of economic justice and health equity through sustainable regional solutions. To achieve our mission, we focus on building the capacity of residents to identify and report sources of pollution as well as actively participate in public processes that impact their health. We work in the areas of air quality and climate change, farmworker health and safety, pesticide exposure, clean and affordable drinking water, and agroecology. CCEJN has successfully implemented programs that hold a strong emphasis on empowering residents, including community-engaged air monitoring campaigns, resident-led participatory research projects, and community reporting networks. Over the past 23 years, CCEJN has fostered strong working relationships with community residents, grassroots groups, regulatory agencies, and academia.
