About Us
The Global Game Jam (GGJ) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to foster public engagement in game development, experimentation, innovation and creativity. GGJ is the world's largest game jam event (game creation) taking place around the world at physical locations. Think of it as a hackathon focused on game development. It is the growth of the idea, that in today’s heavily connected world, we should come together, be creative, share experiences and express ourselves in a multitude of ways while creating games. In 2019 we had 860 locations in 113 countries, each run by volunteer site organizers from our community. Global Game Jam, Inc. is developing new programs and events.
