The Midtown Greenway Coalition

About Us

The Midtown Greenway is a 5.5 mile former railroad corridor in south Minneapolis with bicycling and walking trails. The Coalition formed to advocate for the Greenway's construction, and works hard to protect and enhance the trails and surrounding green spaces every day. We empower communities to develop, improve, protect, and enjoy the Midtown Greenway as a green urban pathway to improve people's lives.

We envision a corridor that provides the anchor for a regional, sustainable transportation network; and encourages healthy diverse communities to prosper, participate, and connect to the region

Recently, the Coalition successfully opposed the construction of overhead high-voltage powerlines on the Greenway, has been working with developers to create buildings that minimize trail shadowing and integrate the Greenway with the community, and is gearing up for a summer full of events and community-building fun.

Ongoing programs include Greenspace, Artspace, and Improvements Committees, as well as an Adopt-a-Greenway program for businesses and a nightly Trail Watch safety patrol.
