Lilac Preservation Project

  • Mission

The mission of the non-profit Lilac Preservation Project is to restore the U.S. Lighthouse Tender Lilac as a unique vehicle for maritime education and community activities, both underway and pier-side.

    About Us

The museum ship LILAC is a retired Coast Guard vessel that carried supplies to lighthouses and maintained buoys. It is open to the public three afternoons a week from May to October offering tours of the ship's history and exhibits as well as educational and cultural programs. Volunteers greet visitors and assist at programs as well as performing maintenance and restoration tasks as we work toward making the ship operational again.

The Lilac Preservation Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit and chartered as a museum by the state of New York.
