NEWTOWN VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION INC

  • Mission

The members of the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps serve their neighbors when they are in their time of greatest need. They serve with their expertise, their compassion, and their energy. On an ambulance call, our volunteers communicate respect and honesty to their team members and their patients. Their demeanor conveys skill and empathy. In the face of emergencies, our members are reassuring, calm, and respectful. We attend to our patients with state of the art equipment and the knowledge to use it effectively. As volunteers, we are as diverse as the community we serve. As a Corps, we are united and dedicated to furthering our already excellent skills. We continue our training individually and as a group and we mentor each other on a continuing basis.

    About Us

Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps is made up of approximately 70 trained Emergency Medical Technicians who volunteer their time to help others in their community. These members range in age from high school to retirees. NVAC covers an area of over 60 square miles and is one of the most active volunteer EMS providers in our region with a volume of over 2,200 calls and 30,000 volunteer hours per year.

Currently, NVAC has four ambulances available to provide Basic and Advanced Life Support (BLS) service. In order to provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) to our community, NVAC contracts for a paramedic to be housed 24/7 in our garage to respond to ALS calls.
