About Us

Philmont Nonprofit Development Center (PNDC) was incorporated as a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization in 2007 and is driven by a goal to assist nonprofit organizations in the location and acquisition of resources. PNDC works throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region, including Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties in Pennsylvania and Camden County in New Jersey, to help nonprofits maintain a level of viability and sustainability, as well as increase their capacity, level of competency, and ability to provide services to their communities.

PNDC uses the proven tactics of their partner, JAE Enterprises, Inc., to effectively fulfill its goals. JAE Enterprises, Inc. has provided organizational development services to over 90 faith-based and community organizations since the year 2000. PNDC is mirroring JAE’s practices to provide services for its clients such as grant research, writing, and review; grant writing and board development workshops and seminars; and development of strategic plans and partnerships.

In addition to consulting services, Philmont co-operates a Nonprofit Resource Room out of Camden, NJ. The Resource Room provides nonprofit organizations with access to resources they might otherwise not be able to afford. These include a subscription to Foundation Directory Online, Professional Edition, and a library of non-profit friendly books and philanthropic journals. Contained in the Resource Room library are over 100 books categorized under the topics of program development, revenue development, leadership development, organizational development, capacity building, community engagement, and faith-based. Recently, nonprofit organizations have shown increased interest in using social media outlets in their business plans. As a response, PNDC is expanding its Resource Room to create a section on social media, including books on the topic and a frequently updated binder full of social networking articles.

Philmont Nonprofit Development Center serves as an incubator for the growth of the AmeriCorps VISTA program in Camden, NJ. PNDC has partnered with the Corporation for National and Community Service to train AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers. AmeriCorps VISTAs are federal volunteers on loan to the organization where they are serving. VISTAs are dedicated to one year of service but have the option to serve for three years total. The Center trains VISTAs in five critical areas of capacity building and then pairs them with a nonprofit where they will have a direct, positive impact on the needs of the organization. Currently, the recruitment and training of AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers is the main project of PNDC.
