Mission
Training Physicians Who Think Clearly, Act Boldly, and Heal Compassionately
The Southern California School of Medicine (SCSM) exists to educate, inspire, and empower the next generation of physician-leaders. Our mission is to deliver a rigorous, patient-centered medical education that unites science, skill, and humanism — preparing graduates to meet the evolving demands of modern healthcare with confidence, competence, and compassion. At the Southern California School of Medicine, we see medicine as both a discipline and a calling. Our programs are designed around the conviction that excellence in medicine requires more than technical mastery — it demands the ability to think critically, act decisively, communicate clearly, and care deeply. Through an LCME-aligned curriculum enriched by our proprietary Surginuity™ framework, we integrate surgical precision, creative problem-solving, and moral clarity into every stage of training.
Our mission unfolds through five core commitments:
SCSM operates as an independent, non-profit institution — free-standing yet deeply connected to the communities it serves. This independence enables us to remain nimble, mission-driven, and unencumbered by tradition, allowing innovation to emerge from purpose rather than precedent.
About the Southern California School of Medicine
The Southern California School of Medicine (SCSM) is a non-profit allopathic institution based in Los Angeles. Rooted in academic rigor, it prepares future physicians to meet the evolving demands of modern healthcare.
The Southern California School of Medicine (SCSM) was founded on a simple but transformative idea: that the practice of medicine is both a science and a discipline of leadership. As an independent, non-profit allopathic medical school based in Los Angeles, SCSM is building a new model of medical education designed for the realities of 21st-century healthcare — one that trains physicians not only to treat, but to think, adapt, and lead.
SCSM sets itself apart by embedding Surginuity™, our proprietary framework built on Surgeon’s Ingenuity, Pilot’s Precision, and Navy SEAL Resilience and Leadership, into the LCME curriculum. This mindset-driven approach develops physicians who think critically, act with disciplined precision, and lead with confidence under pressure—qualities increasingly scarce in today’s healthcare environment.
