Court Appointed Special Advocates recruits, trains, and supervises community volunteers to advocate for the best interest of a child or children going through a civil court process due to abuse and/or neglect. A volunteer is sworn-in by circuit court judges to become officers of the court. The CASA volunteer provides factual and objective court reports to the judge recommending what they feel is in the best interest of the child; to be reunified with his or her birth parents or to adopted. The main goal is to find permanency for a child; so he or she can live in safe, loving, permanent homes.
