  • Mission

Philly CoderDojo is a volunteer-led nonprofit that provides free, inclusive, and project-based coding education to youth ages 7–17. Our mission is to empower young people to become creators—not just consumers—of technology, and to build a diverse pipeline into technology-enabled careers. We believe that every child, regardless of background, deserves access to the tools and mentorship that will help them thrive in a digital world.

help shape the next generation of innovators.

    About Us

Philly CoderDojo is part of a global movement of open-source, community-based coding clubs. Since 2017, we’ve served youth across Philadelphia and the Northeastern U.S., offering bi-monthly virtual coding sessions during the school year and monthly summer sessions. Our “ninjas” (students) explore everything from Scratch and Python to Unity game development and web design.

We are not just teaching code—we’re cultivating confidence, creativity, and critical thinking. Our learning model is non-curriculum-based and youth-led, allowing students to choose their own tech adventures while being supported by a team of passionate mentors.

    We are proud to be:

    • Free and accessible to all youth
    • Volunteer-powered, with a 5:1 student-to-mentor goal
    • Focused on equity, reaching students from underrepresented and underserved communities
    • Committed to mentorship, early workforce development, and college/career readiness

In 2024–2025, our ninjas built games in Unity, created websites, and explored AI tools. We’re now preparing for our 2025–2026 term and looking for tech mentors who want to give back, inspire, and help shape the next generation of innovators.
