About Us

Sing for Hope transforms and uplifts individuals and communities by mobilizing artists in volunteer service programs, bringing the power of the arts to those who need it most.

Since 2006, Sing for Hope’s arts outreach programs have brought hope and inspiration to thousands of individuals in under-resourced schools, public hospitals, hospices, veterans’ centers, after-school programs, neighborhood centers, nursing homes, and disability networks. To date, Sing for Hope has partnered with over 220 nonprofit organizations, involved over 3,500 artists in community volunteerism, and donated over 180 pianos to local community-based organizations.

Our work is comprised of three principal program areas:

  • Youth Arts serves under-resourced youth ages 4–19 through an innovative curriculum that combines creative arts education with service learning, nurturing confidence and positive development in young people and their local communities.

  • Healing Arts brings dynamic arts experiences to hospital patients, persons with disabilities, seniors, and veterans, providing a consistent source of joy and inspiration for patients and caregivers through programming specially tailored to each healthcare community.

  • The Sing for Hope Pianos, our flagship Community Arts Program initiative, brings artist-designed pianos to the parks and public spaces of New York City each summer for anyone and everyone to play. After the instruments’ time on the streets, we transport The Sing for Hope Pianos to under-resourced schools, hospitals, and community centers, where they become hubs for Sing for Hope year-round arts outreach programming, inspiring individuals and enriching communities across New York City. To date, Sing for Hope has placed 336 unique piano artworks throughout the five boroughs, making NYC host to more street pianos than any other city in the world.

Each SFH program is defined by the volunteer service of artists, the needs of our partner communities, and our belief in the power of the arts to transform and uplift our world.
