About Us

About Us

Warwickshire Wildlife Trust is the leading local environmental charity. We protect wildlife and natural places throughout Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull. We safeguard local wildlife by:

• Caring for 55 nature reserves; woods, meadows and wetlands covering over 2000 acres.

• Campaigning for wildlife and the environment; protecting threatened places and rare species.

• Helping people to enjoy nature with walks talks and events.

• Working with schools and community groups to educate and support local action for the environment.

• Encouraging volunteers to get involved and help in all aspects of our work.

How can people help?

• Become a member of Warwickshire Wildlife Trust by picking up a “Helping protect wildlife” leaflet that outlines the benefits to the member and the Trust of joining.

• Volunteer for our Nature Force team that operates on a Wednesday and Thursday. These workparties travel to a different reserve each week carrying out varied seasonal habitat management work. Information on these is found in the “Action for Wildlife” leaflet.

• Volunteer for our weekend work parties, which are run by local voluntary wardens. Some of the reserves operate a weekend work party on a regular basis. This involves the same activities as the Nature Force parties apart from they are held at the same reserve and are less frequent. Information on these can be found in the “Wild Events and Activities” leaflet.

• Become a volunteer surveyor. We are currently setting up a surveying and monitoring programme that will commence this autumn. Varying levels of experience are required from experts in a particular field such as botany to novices who would be required to walk a simple route recording a species that they have been trained to recognise.

• Become an Education volunteer. Working with children at Brandon Marsh or Parkridge Centre teaching environmental education in the form of pond dipping and bug hunting etc.

ALL AREAS OF VOLUNTEERING NEED NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN THE CHOSEN AREA AS TRAINING WILL BE GIVEN!
