Our mission is to feed the hungry in the spirit of compassion, understanding, and love.

    About Us

Martin’s, as it is affectionately known, is a free restaurant. We serve lunch Monday through Saturday and breakfast Tuesday through Friday. We have been an all-volunteer run organization since our founding in 1971. A core group of volunteers plan menus, stock our pantry, and coordinate volunteers. Each meal service at Martin’s is led by an experienced volunteer, and we welcome new volunteers on an ongoing basis. Along with serving healthy food, we strive to build a community between our volunteers and the guests we serve. We take pride and joy in the relationships that develop among people who share a common space and purpose at Martin’s.

Named after Martin de Porres, the patron saint of social justice, the sick, and the poor, we are committed to social justice and believe that feeding the hungry is a question of justice, not charity. Our roots lie in the Catholic Worker Movement, but we are a community with diverse spiritual practices and backgrounds. We consider each person who comes to Martin’s to be a beloved guest and treat them as such. We believe healthy food is a right, not a privilege.
