  • Mission

The mission of BlackFem is to provide opportunities for women and girls of color to build and sustain wealth.

    About Us

Founded in 2015 in New York City, BlackFem began reaching girls and women of color through our In-House community-based programs and quickly gained interest from schools all over the city. We envision a high-quality, culturally responsive financial education being deployed in classrooms (during the school day) 5 days a week. In the spirit of this vision, we made the decision during the 2017-2018 school year to focus exclusively on cultivating long-term partnerships with school districts to implement our BlackFem At School programs. Through these programs, students receive credit scores, teachers are trained to deliver our customized curriculum, and all community members are supported with BlackFem workshops, including students, teachers, and families. We currently serve over 15,000 students in some of the most struggling school districts in the country, including Washington, D.C., Rochester, NY, Chicago, and Newark. We have seen improvements in attendance up to 37% and 100% of our teachers want to continue with our programming.
