ABOUT the YWCA WHITE PLAINS & CENTRAL WESTCHESTER

History:

Since 1929, the YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester has been a pioneer for social change through innovative programs that seek to improve the lives of women and families. Each week, the YWCA serves more than 4,000 women, children and their families through early education programs, summer camps, fitness and wellness programs, and advocacy for racial justice and the empowerment of women. For 87 years, the YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester has been making a difference in the lives of women, children and families in White Plains and Westchester by:

  • Advancing race and gender equity through strategic programming and coalition building.
  • Being the largest provider of supportive housing for low-income women in New York State and the only provider in Westchester County. Our state of the art residence is home to 193 low-income women.
  • Cultivating girls to be tomorrow’s leaders.
  • Preparing children for a bright future through one of the largest early education and youth services programs in the County.
  • Putting better health and wellness within reach of all, including the developmentally disabled.
