About Us

Our school was founded in 1925 by Dr. Lela G. McConnell. We’ve been educating, mentoring, and equipping young people to be light in this dark world for a long time.

What transpired on this Eastern Kentucky mountaintop in the 1920s with a handful of college students has grown into a world-wide ministry. The Kentucky Mountain Holiness Association, which grew from Mt. Carmel School and its institutions and ministries, has touched every part of the earth. A continuous line of young people have come and continue to come to Mt. Carmel School from around the world to study. Many have found Christ here and have begun their preparation to serve a needy world. Most further their education in some of America’s best colleges, and many return to their country to be life-changers. There is not a continent untouched by an alumnus of Mt. Carmel School.

In a day when Christianity and the message of Christ are being challenged as never before in the modern era, Mt. Carmel School is more important, more needed than ever before.

Our Mission statement is to academically equip and spiritually transform our students.
