Museum of the Coastal Bend

About Us

The Museum of the Coastal Bend is home to 13,000 years of Texas heritage. We tell the story of the Coastal Bend from indigenous cultures, through the French settlement at Fort St. Louis and Spanish colonization, to the beginnings of the Texas that we know today. Our mission is to enhance the appreciation and enjoyment of the region's heritage; our purpose is to collect, preserve, exhibit, interpret, and educate using the history and heritage of the region.

At MCB, visitors can learn through interactive experiences such as throwing atlatls (ancient hunting tools) or checking out our archaeology lab. We offer school field trips in which students visit a selection of hands-on activity stations.

MCB volunteers share our history by presenting school programs, assisting with education events, and talking with visitors about the collection.
