    The Fulbright Scholar Program, administred by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars on behalf of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is the United States' flagship program for scholastic exchange. Since 1946, the Fulbright Scholar Program has sent more 50,000 U.S. scholars and professionals overseas to conduct teaching, research, foster dialogue between higher education systems and nations, aid social progress in countries outside of the United States and facilitate dialogue between the U.S. and countries abroad.
