The Academy for Teachers
- New York
The Academy for Teachers honors and supports great teachers. We bring New York City’s best teachers together with our culture’s most brilliant minds and creative talents for Master Classes held in beautiful and inspiring venues across the city. Master Classes have been led by Gloria Steinem, Stephen Sondheim, Henry Louis Gates, Jr., as well as Nobel Laureates, Pulitzer Prize-winners, and leading academics. Master Classes have been held at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Frick Collection, the New York Historical Society, the American Museum of Natural History, and elsewhere. Teachers invited to our Master Classes become Fellows of The Academy, joining our growing community of exceptional teachers. Our secondary mission is to raise the profile of the teaching profession.
