  • Mission

The mission of Better People, Inc. is to educate youths and their families within the community through programs, workshops and seminars to become productive citizens in our society.

    About Us

The Tomorrow’s Star’s program was the initial program implemented at the inception of Better People to serve youth ages 5 - 12 in Jefferson Village Apartments in 1990. Over 3,000 youth have participated learning various skills to enhance their quality of life. These skill areas include topics that will enhance interpersonal skills, moral development, conflict resolution, problem solving, and characteristics of successful people.

The Teen Summit was later implemented to specifically meet the needs of the preteen/teens through age 15. In this program youth gain knowledge of the negative effects of drugs, tobacco, and other negative behaviors, strategies to overcome violence, ways to make informed choices for the future, communication with parents and other persons in authority, goal setting, job seeking skills, and work ethics.

Family Programs Since 2008, Better People has been training families in skills needed to enhance the entire family. It was observed by the staff that to really improve the life of a child, the whole family must be exposed to training, mentoring, and support that will enhance each of them. The first program implemented was Strengthening Families. To date 35 families have received the curriculum and mentoring provided by Better People staff.
