  • About Us

AIDS Foundation East-West (AFEW) is a Dutch, non-governmental, humanitarian, public health organisation with more than 130 staff working in the fields of HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support in Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kirgizstan.

AFEW was founded in 2001 to focus on HIV/AIDS related issues of prevention, treatment, care and support in Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA). It develops programmes and gives assistance to the region’s most vulnerable groups primarily: youth, women, injecting drug users and prison inmates. The success of AFEW’s programming depends on adapting effective international programmes to local conditions and operating in close cooperation with national and local governments and civil society organisations.
