Stonewall Brigade Band

  • Mission

The mission of the Stonewall Brigade Band is to offer high quality music programs and performances to benefit the citizens and the community; to foster better and new relationships among musicians; to preserve the musical heritage of the Shenandoah Valley; to continue in perpetuity the long history of the Stonewall Brigade Band; and to further promote charitable and educational programs, particularly in the field of music.

    About Us

The Stonewall Brigade Band is the oldest continuous among over 2,000 community bands in the nation. Initially formed as a brass band, we have grown and changed into a community concert band with woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments, averaging 70-80 playing members on each summer concert. Our members are all volunteers and come from several Shenandoah Valley cities and counties and other areas of Virginia and West Virginia. Our age range is 13 through 84. There is no audition to join. We welcome new members in all sections of the band. The band practices October through May every Monday at 8pm in the Pump House at the entrance to Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton, VA. The summer concert season features a free concert every Monday night at 8pm in June, July and August in the Stonewall Brigade Bandstand in beautiful Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton, VA. The band also presents a Christmas concert and plays for various civic and historical events throughout the year. In addition, there are several ensemble groups that practice and perform.
