HopeStar Foundation

The HopeStar Foundation (HSF), founded in 2011 and headquartered in Charlotte, NC, is catalyzing opportunities for health and prosperity for North Carolina’s children and families. The Foundation’s strategic goal is to build a resilient culture in North Carolina by increasing health, safety, and dignity within all communities through systems-level strategies that address root causes of inequities. HSF’s priority investment areas include early childhood development from prenatal to age five, maternal health supports, and embedding trauma-informed policies and practices within and between sectors – including government, judicial, health, and academic systems. The Foundation identifies barriers, convenes experts, proposes innovative solutions, and helps fund pilot programs to test creative approaches. Elizabeth Star, President and Founder of the HopeStar Foundation, has a background in maternal and child health, and a history of creating coalitions to bring about systemic change.
