Sarthak Foundation focuses on providing quality education to both
slum and rural children who are deprived of it due to financial and situational
constraints (poverty, access, seasonal migration, gender related restrictions etc.).
We do this by creating conditions conducive to make education accessible and
available to them.
We initiated the project in 2013 without any aid. We establish Open Study Centres (running post school hours) within the slums for providing quality education and holistic development and conduct classes six days a week. Currently, we run 4 centres in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India and cover more than 400 children under our umbrella. We plan to establish eight new centres in the next one year, bringing the number of children to more than one thousand five hundred. Our ultimate objective is to make children self-sustainable so that they are able to improve their quality of life and make a difference for their community.
Sarthak Foundation is a registered not-for-profit organisation.
We are registered under the Societies Act 1860, and are 12A and 80G (Income Tax Exemption) certified.
The significance of the project gets added due to the present condition of Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh has a population of more than 210 million and has the highest number of people living below poverty line in India (UP is home to 18% of World’s poor). Poverty in UP exceeds that of the 26 poorest African countries. The issue that our project is trying to address is that of abject poverty. We want to solve it by trying to provide the next generation the means, resources and support to traverse the threshold of poverty. This we aim to do by making quality education accessible to young children.
