About Us

Through community-centered programs, services and action-oriented research, ABC facilitates avenues for people of color, with an emphasis on Black, Latinx and Indigenous, and their communities, to leverage the economic value of cultural capital and improve their quality of life by addressing barriers of access to capital, networks, and knowledge.

We envision a sustainable future plural society that has eliminated inequities based on race and class, in both sociocultural and legislative spaces, where people of color, with an emphasis on Black, Latinx

and Indigenous peoples operating as creatives, artists, and makers, are able to exercise their fullest autonomy, collective power, and enfranchisement in a state of lasting economic solidarity.

Leveraging two departmental arms - Grassroots Action Project (GAP) and the Rising Tides Research Institute (RTRI) - our services and programs address barriers to success for BIPOC-led creative and professional endeavors by facilitating access to capital, networks, and training. Together, GAP and RTRI utilize a community-centered, multi-pronged approach to cultivate arts as a gateway to social and civic engagement, while leveraging innovative business strategies for people of color in order to facilitate the retention of the economic value of their cultural capital.

While ABC’s overall budget, including sponsored projects, has grown from less than $200k to over $10M in a matter of months (due to the growth of our sponsored projects and increased support of ABC through the Black Lives Matter movement), we are still a startup and are building systems actively.
