  • Mission

The mission of CASA of Berks County is to provide a competent, responsible, and compassionate court-appointed community volunteer to advocate for each child who faces abuse, neglect, and/or abandonment; our goal, to restore their well-being and ensure the eminent right to a safe, nurturing, and permanent home.

    About Us

Founded in 2015, CASA of Berks County recruits, trains, and supports over 50 citizen volunteers to be Court Appointed Special Advocates. As volunteer court advocates they are assigned a child or children who have been abused and/or neglected. The court advocates meet at least monthly with the child, talk with foster and bio parents, talk with doctors, therapists, and schools, and regularly communicate with the team at Berks County Children & Youth and the Guardian Ad Litem in Berks Courts. The goal is to be the eyes and ears of the judge, reporting back to the judge the child's living conditions, success and participation in court ordered programs like therapy, school, medical exams, dental, etc. In the past year our 50 volunteers advocated for 107 children and attended over 317 court hearings.
