herDIVASpot Organization seeks to cultivate and promote the value and self-development of school aged young ladies. Through mentoring, educational and cultural exposure, we aim to produce civic and socially minded, financially literate, and spiritually grounded young women.
Modeled after the innovative and awe inspiring parent program African Womanhood is Mine (www.africanwomanhoodismine.com), herDIVAspot is a year-long initiative designed to not only introduce young women ages eight to fifteen to their community-at-large, but to provide them with true tools for their growth and womanhood.
Beginning as a group of ten young ladies ages eight to ten, herDIVAspot will walk them through a year-long program broken into four modules. These modules comprise the complete ‘DIVA’: a Divine Intelligent Voice of All ages. Mentors specific to each module will guide each participant through the individual modules with the material in each module building upon the last. At the completion of the program, participants will take part in a two part rites of passage ceremony – a traditional ceremony in West Africa, as well as a more generalized one where all friends and family can share in this momentous occasion.
