    About Us

New Horizon Living Centers (NHLC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rooted in compassion, inclusivity, and second chances. What started in 2007 as a small group of sober homes has grown into something much bigger, Connecticut’s first full-scale clinical recovery program, built to walk with people through some of life’s hardest moments.

We serve individuals and families from all walks of life, people navigating addiction, mental health struggles, unstable housing, or food insecurity. Some are starting over after incarceration or hospitalization. Others are simply trying to hold their families together through crisis. Whatever brings them to us, we meet them where they are, with care, respect, and no judgment.

Our mission is simple at heart: to help people heal and rebuild. That means not just treating the surface issues, but supporting the whole person. Through our food pantry, clothing closet, clinical treatment, sober and transitional housing, and more, we surround folks with the kind of care that helps them take the next step, and then the one after that.

We’re guided by values that really matter to us: safety, responsiveness, forgiveness, self-care, equity, and belonging. They’re not just words, we live them. Right now, we support over 700 families through our pantry, with about half identifying as Latino or Hispanic. We even deliver to homebound clients to make sure no one is left behind.

Our team includes clinicians, social workers, nurses, and support staff, people who care deeply and show up every day with open hearts and open minds. Because at NHLC, we’re not just running programs. We’re building a community. A place where healing happens, dignity is restored, and people get to remember that their story isn’t over.
