About Us

VOCAL-NY is a statewide grassroots membership organization dedicated to creating healthy and just communities by building power among low-income people affected by HIV/AIDS, the drug war and mass incarceration. We do this through community organizing, leadership development, participatory research, policy advocacy and direct action with the belief that true social change must come from the bottom up and be lead by those directly impacted. In addition to our community organizing projects, VOCAL-NY’s HIV/AIDS Housing Network is a network of non-profit organizations providing housing assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS. We also have a harm reduction and survival services program for people who are active or former drug users in Brooklyn, including syringe exchange, overdose prevention, HIV/AIDS & hepatitis C services and addiction treatment education.

VOCAL-NY is formerly known as the NYC AIDS Housing Network (NYCAHN)
