About Us

For over seven decades, the Human Services Council has identified unmet community needs and has “filled in the gaps” by creating and fostering programs that educate, safeguard and empower people living and working in our communities. Throughout this time, our initiatives have focused on alcohol and drug prevention, supportive housing, child advocacy, homelessness, medical and behavioral healthcare for children and adolescents, volunteerism and mentoring. Collaborating with other organizations, the Human Services Council serves over 8,000 children, families and individuals each year, ensuring the immediate delivery of critical services in an efficient and effective manner.

OUR PROGRAMS:

The Dr. Robert Appleby School Based Health Centers

Providing medical and mental health services in Norwalk's high schools and middle schools

The Norwalk Mentor Program

The First school based mentoring program in the country

Mid Fairfield Substance  Abuse Coalition

Resources to address substance abuse and its affects

Supportive Housing- 40 South Main St and Ludlow Commons

Stable, safe, quality housing for formerly homeless individuals and low income seniors

Children's Connection

A full accredited Children's Advocacy Center that coordinates public and private resources to identify, investigate and  treat children suffering from sexual and physical abuse and their families
