Lakeview Elementary School Garden

Oakland, CA

  • About Us

Lakeview Elementary School Garden is a learning space for students during the day & through the Ujima Foundation's afterschool program. We hope to teach youth not only about how to grow food, but why it's important (nutritionally, financially, culturally & politically). The garden is a space where leadership, community, and hands-on skills are cultuvated.

Our garden is comprised of 25 4x10 ft garden beds distributed around the campus. Most of the garden beds are used to grow food while others host ornamental plants. We work with 10-20 students each day in the afterschool program to take care of all of the garden beds & have a good time doing it!
