Jefferson Street Center, Inc.

The mission of Jefferson Street Center, Inc. is to promote social justice for all, with a special emphasis on improving the quality of life for individuals and families living in the surrounding community. The Center works with the community to identify needs and seeks the community’s support through communication with residents, local neighborhood associations, businesses, and institutions. By fostering cooperation among community groups and residents, JSC seeks to solve problems of mutual concern through a variety of service and support programs. Values for Jefferson Street Center include:

1. Culture - JSC works internally and in the community to increase cultural awareness and competency, and welcomes diversity within the community with compassion, understanding, and an open heart.
2. Diversity - JSC Board membership reflects the diversity (racially, socially, economically, educationally, and vocationally) of the larger community.
3. Community - JSC is community oriented. Board membership includes residents of the surrounding community as well as representatives from the civic, institutional, organizational, governmental, and faith communities.
4. Collaboration - JSC values collaboration and working together for the common good, encouraging the building of relationships and a sense of community to address mutual concerns and promote social justice.
