The Mission of Stony Kill Foundation is to connect the public with nature, sustainable farming, and local history. Our hands-on programs provide environmental education through the lens of agriculture.
Founded in 1977 as a friends group to the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation to help support the Stony Kill Farm Environmental Education Center. In 2010, the Foundation entered an Occupancy Agreement with the State to run the day to day operations of the facility. Our organizational goals are to provide educational programs that connect people of all ages to sound agricultural practices and environmental stewardship, interpret the rich cultural history of agriculture in the Hudson Valley, connect people to the outdoors and appreciate the natural environment of Stony Kill Farm.
The Foundation operates a working educational farm and youth and adult programs for thousands of people each year. In addition, the Foundation organizes numerous events to educate and engage the public. Over 19,000 people visit the 1000-acre farm each year, participating in our signature environmental education programs, growing fruits and veggies in the community garden, hiking the trails, and enjoying the outdoors. The beautiful Stony Kill Farm is a place where people from all backgrounds and walks of life can slow down, admire the scenery, and connect with the environment.
Stony Kill Foundation is committed to fostering inclusivity and diversity at work and throughout our programs connecting people with the history, agriculture, and environment of Stony Kill Farm.
