Girls of Steel Robotics

Girls of Steel empowers everyone, especially women and girls, to believe they are capable of success in STEM.

Girls of Steel Robotics runs afterschool programs for kids in grades K-12 to introduce them to robotics, computer science, and engineering. Kids come to our meeting space from all over the Pittsburgh region to build robots and prepare to compete in local and national competitions. In turn our 7th-12th grade students work with us to run workshops in their communities, in order to share their knowledge and confidence in STEM with more kids.

Our programs also get the kids involved in activities related to running a business, as we want students to leave our programs with skills useful in all fields, and confident that they are capable of handling whatever challenges they encounter.

We are an outreach program of Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute. While relevant tech or business skills are helpful, they are absolutely not required to volunteer with any of our programs.
