The DreamTree Project Inc
DreamTree Project’s mission is to provide youth in need with a residential environment to practice life skills, understand family dynamics and prepare to become independent, involved members of their community.
We operate an Emergency Youth Shelter for ages 12 to 17. In the 8 bed Shelter, youth not only receive a safe place to stay with healthy meals and snacks, they also receive case management, education, therapy, medical care, and life skills training.
The Transitional Living Program, serves runaway and homeless youth and young adults ages 16 to 24, including young people fleeing domestic violence. These young people receive through this program, independent apartment living, case management, education, therapy, medical care, life skills training, and employment support. The program can accommodate up to nine youth at any time in on-site and off-site apartments.
We support the youth’s needs by conducting a comprehensive assessment with each participant, including a behavioral health diagnostic assessment. Individual needs identified in the assessment result in a personal plan for recovery programs, counseling, life skills training, assistance with employment, enrollment in educational programs, coordinated care with probation/parole officers, case management, and a comprehensive approach incorporating trauma-informed care.
DreamTree program is the first agency in New Mexico to enroll in the National Safe Place Program, which allows teens in crisis to TXT 4 HELP. Local business owners can sign up to be a "safe place". When teens arrive the business contacts DreamTree who then arranges for the youth to be transported to the shelter.
